Today is May 23rd.  Happy Anniversary Mr. Miller, 55 years.  We are leaving Ames, Iowa after breakfast at Perkins because the free breakfast at the hotel wasn't all it could be!!

We have been watching the weather and there are tornados ahead and below us so we are taking the route with the least resistance:).  So far the skies are blue and sunny with a few clouds.  Yesterday was the first day we saw blue skies since we left home on the 16th.  We have hit it all, rain, sleet, snow, wind, flooding.  What a trip!!

Yesterday we just traveled down the road with not to many detours.  Got a couple of old barns and maybe 1 or 2 deer.  Iowa is flat, like ND and SD.  We took a slug of highway pictures. the ones in front of us that went on for 10 miles straight down the road.  Montana doesn't have anything over any of the other states we have come through the last couple of days.  The highways that we have traveled lately have all been straight as arrows.

So the pics I post today will be of the 17th.  It will be a surprise to both of us because I can't remember this moment what they are and we are traveling down the highway at 65 mph as I type.  So, no internet until tonight but I will just be that farther ahead when we get there.

You must be very careful when you touch keys on your computer.  Touch the wrong key and it all goes away.  Ask me how I know.  So I will just say here instead of trying to caption each picture.
The weather was cold, rainy and it snowed and never above 44 degrees I think.  We had a good time and saw some animals and beautiful country side.
Down toward the bottom you will see an elk crossing a Sulphur flat.  We drove by this smooth walled hill, if it is Sulphur nothing grows and the ground is smooth and whitish.  So I made Marty turn around and go back.  We parked and we both got our of the car.
Suddenly she ducks behind the open car door and calls my name.  I looked at her but didn't know what she wanted, and I saw this elk come from behind the trees and walk in front of me.  What Marty saw was a big black blob behind the trees and she thought it was a bear.  This elk stood and looked at me for a couple of seconds and then he lifted his head up in the air like he had an attitude and walked off.  Excuse Me!!
The huge Yellowstone river was even frozen over.
So, before I erase it all again I will close here for the night.

Thank you for looking, I hope you enjoy.

Love to all
