Today is November 1st.

We left Myrtle Beach, SC and went down Waccamaw Rd. and took pictures of the damage done by the hurricane a couple months ago.  What was left to see was piles of old mattresses, wood, furniture and stuff that had been under water in the surge of the surf.   And lots and lots of displaced sand.

Back to Atlantic Road and on to Huntington Beach.  There is a long walkway you can go out and check out the scenery.  So grab that cuppa and sit back.

 Really??

Wait, wait, does it say something about alligators?

Whew!!
On through Georgetown and saw the sign for the Hampton Mansion, down a back road.  Well, need you ask?

That little house was a cook house that they were renovating and those little green geckos were all over the place, shudder, shudder.

This is a bridge, a long one.

We skirted around Charleston, S Carolina.  I didn't realize it was so big,.

And stopped here to mail post cards and get stamps.

Sure a lot of side road "swamps" in our travels today.

Then we went down to Bear Island Wildlife refuge.  We saw the sign!!!  We found some cool looking birds and watched them while they played.

So the birds started off for the other end of the pond.  We thought we should follow them and see whats to see.  As we are driving down the little road a guy in a pickup is screaming up behind us.  We stopped to see what was up.  "This area is closed.  They are hunting down the road.  You passed a sign saying so!!"
Oh, sorry, I don't remember seeing a sign.  We were just taking pictures of birds.  Whoops!!!  We have been kicked out of S. Carolina!!!!   There was a sign.  It said Closed to hunting.  In my neck of the woods that means you can't hunt here.  In his neck of the woods it apparently means, don't go there, they are hunting.  Dammit!!!!!
So down the road we go.  We found a cute little pond, we thought we would stop and take a peek before we slunk out of the state.  A nice little pond.  It had a whirlpool in it, first one I had seen.  So as we are looking around I looked to the other side of the road and up crawls a crab. I tried to shove him off to the side and water he came from but he started chasing me. I yell at Marty and she goes over to check him out.  (Side note, she rescues animals that might cross the road so they don't get squished.)  So she goes over and tries to push him off with the lens of her camera and he gloms onto it and wouldn't let go.  Laugh, laugh, shake, shake and he wouldn't let go.  Laugh, laugh!!!  She finally shook him off but it was a little iffy there for a moment.

We made it to Pooler for the night.  It has been a full, interesting, very cool day.

Until next time

Love to all
