Thursday, September 29th.

Leaving Cumberland in the rain.  It seems to have been following us for a couple of days.  Today we will put on only 210 miles and a total of 3695 miles by the end of the night.

Coming out of the motel we saw this stream.  It was running hard and the water was the color of red clay.  We had actually seen quite a few red streams across the county.  When we asked about the color we were told it was because they had so much rain.
Oh look, we are coming to McCoole, W Virginia.  Wouldn't you like to be from McCoole just so you could say it?

We were going to look for Yogi Bear but it was too wet out and we didn't want to get wet.

We followed this truck for some time.  I thought it might make a cool abstract picture.  Well, sometimes it's hard to get it right.

We made it to Waynesboro, PA.  I think my first encounter with Amish farms.  They are huge.

This one was Amish.  Much cleaner than the ones above

They had a play house for their children

We went down a back road and found this house.  The leaves on the plant were great big.

The houses were all two story.

And some of them were row houses.  And it is still raining

There were signs like these all over.  They showed a part of the Gettysburg campaign that was on that spot.  So many signs.  It must have been on hell of a fight.

This was on a street corner.

Then we came across the Renfrew Museum

The rain makes the roof shiny.

We stopped here for lunch.  That was quite an experience for this meat and tatoes girl.  I had hot beets, chicken, hog maw, sweet and sour chicken, fritters, creamy rice, raisin pie and peanut butter pie, ice cream and a soda.  It was little bits so I could taste it all, but it was more than plenty.

Halloween is coming.

We don't have anything this old at home.  But there is a whole lot of it around here.  We stopped to check out a graveyard.  That was pretty cool also.  Some of them dated back to the 1700s.  And the beautiful head stones were all over.  I will say here that any church that I saw had a graveyard right next door to it with headstones like this, without exception.

These are corn cribs, where they store the corn after it is picked.  Isn't that cool,

I told you we were great travelers.  We just made it to East Berlin.  Would that be Germany?

Look how old this town is.

These are what you really call row houses.

\
We also went through a very small part of Gettysburg but I will save that for another time.  I have so many pictures.
On we went and finally made it to Delta, PA where we stayed for 3 weeks at Marty's mom's house.  We took many side trips from there.  So here is where I leave you for now.
Until next time

Love to all
