My dad was posted on this sub during the war. My brother Terry had gone to the museum about 8 years ago and saw dad's picture hanging on the wall so I wanted to see it. They changed the décor and he was no longer there but the museum was very interesting. We got a chance to go inside the sub and take pictures. I could only go a short way and Marty went down to the other end to do pictures. I can not tell you how tight it was on the inside. There apparently was 68 men in there, I don't know how they did it. My hats off and heart goes with our service men and women who endure more than some of us would ever dare to think about.
Lake Michigan as we came into town.
The waves of Lake Michigan
There is a ferry across this lake from Milwaukie to Muskegon, a 2 1/2 hour trip. They closed the ferry one day due to the wind. Can you see why?
Mike Harbin was dad's bunk mate and friend
They slept in the same room with the torpedos
And back by the Lake Michigan on the way out of town. The wind was blowing. Talk about dunes, the sand drifted everywhere. We drove by some rental houses across the street from the beach and their front yards were beach, sand everywhere.
They were putting up a fence barrier on the beach against the wind and blowing sand as we were leaving.
I will leave you here for now.
We are heading for Maumee, Ohio
Pictures tomorrow.
Until next time
Love to all
Again you did a good Job of putting up photo's and of taking them at a fast speed. Ha Ha Ha.
