From Fishkill, NY we made our way to Haverhill, MA. The autumn colors are out and it is beautiful. We went up Old Storm King Rd. and found some treasures. Took a tour of West Point Military. That was pretty cool. Huge area, some grandiose buildings. 4000 cadets for 4 years, not everyone gets in and the graduation rate is about 75%, according to the tour guide.
Ate lunch at a Cracker Barrel, very nice and headed to MA.
We stopped to see Bushkill falls, the Niagara of New York. It was 5 minutes after 4 pm. THEY CLOSED THE FALLS AT 4 O'CLOCK. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!! They must have just turned off the spigot.
Here is a little something we came across as we crossed on Old Storm King Rd. It was kinda hidden but Marty looked up the hill and it caught her eye. So I climbed the hill.
Because of the bars we thought that it might have been a jail. Office above, jail below.
A railroad through the trees.

Hornets nest in the tree
A hotel in the Poconos. I bet it is pricy.
We ate pizza here in Cornwall, NY. It was really good stuff. And a cute little place.
I have so much more to show you but it is getting late once again and we have to get up early. Heading off to breakfast with a friend of Marty's and then heading off to Salem to check out the witch hunts. I will be on my best behavior, no twitchy noses :)
I wanted to tell you before I forget. When we went to Gettysburg we toured the Jenny Lynn house. She was the only civilian killed in the civil war. More on that later. The tour guide showed us a bed with the mattress filled with hay. In with the hay was bugs of all sorts so they had a wooden club at the head of the bed that they took down and would beat the mattress with it with the assumption that it would drive the bugs to the floor. Hence, "time to hit the hay".
The mattress rested on a rope sling, kind of a net affair in the bed frame. As it was beaten to get rid of the bugs and just general tossing and turning the ropes would get loose and saggy. So each night they would tighten up the rope so it was taut again. Hence, "Sleep tight". Ain't that just clever!!!!
Love to you all, until tomorrow, hopefully!!!
I'm enjoying all the updates. Safe travels!
