We had dinner, a good pizza, in Cornwall at Prima Pizza. I am so happy to be back on here, we both were having wifi withdrawals. I left you in Cumberland on Sept. the 28 so I think I will just pick it up at Delta, PA.
We were there for 3 weeks while Marty visited with her mom and family. She took me down roads and dirt roads. Let me give you my thoughts on this visit. If you have been there you are allowed to skip down the page. For those of you who haven't been there, just let me say. It is beautiful country, green hills, most of it is grass. If you have been catching me on FB you know my thoughts on the grass. If not let me reiterate, these people have 20 acres of grass around there homes. Who in the hell wants that much grass to mow. But it is gorgeous. I don 't think I saw one yard that was not well taken care of. The houses of lovely, mostly 2 to 3 story high. Lots of older ones, some plain others you would give your eye teeth for. The towns were certainly different from ours. Houses and businesses intermingled. Lots of row houses, some very nice some close to (can I say) slummy. The streets every where are only 2 lanes. Even in around town and with cars parked on the streets it is a little tight.
Found some beautiful churches. My observation there was, I didn't see a church that did not have a grave yard and some of the head stones were old. And I mean old. The Guinston Church, the only one I know the name of, has a cemetery that started in 1754 and the church was built in 1756. How grand is that.
I got to see some Amish and their horse and buggies. I even had a conversation with one nice gentleman about his lovely horse. Now that might not seem of any consequence to some of you but I find this group of people fascinating.
We went to Gettysburg, Mount Vernon and Valley Forge. Saw a part of the Erie Canal. Her mom's back yard had blue jays, red headed woodpecker, hairy woodpecker, downy woodpecker, chickadees, ginco, cardinals, wrens, cat birds, squirrels, ground hog, cat.
Went to see a quarry where they mined green marble but the man kicked us out. Pppphhhhtttt. Saw a couple of quarries where they took out slate. They are all filled with water now, deep water.
One would hope that everything would go smoothly but not so. The wifi here is slow, I shouldn't complain 'cause we have some, but the pictures won't load so I'll post this and try pics on another blog.
Love to all
