Today is Oct. 12th
We are still in Delta, Pa. and taking side trips from here. To date we have put 4788 miles on the car. What a trip. We left here at 8:30 and go to New Oxford for breakfast at Micky D's for breakfast. Then we head down the York highway. The mist and fog lies low in the valley and the foot hills.
On the corner of York and Lincoln we find a field of old tractors.
From here we head back to Gettysburg
We headed back into town and down a road away from downtown.
A coin left on a headstone let's the deceased soldier's family know that somebody stopped by to pay their respect. Leaving a penny means you visited. A nickel means that you and the deceased soldier trained at boot camp together. If you served with the soldier, you leave a dime. A quarter is very significant because it means that you were there when that soldier was killed.
It is hard to look at the beauty and serenity that surrounds this country side and imagine the brutality and deaths of a war of brother against brother.
We went into the Museum where they had a diorama. You stood in the center circle of the room and around the edges were these pictures that filled the walls that would light up with flashes and shouting and gun fire and artillery fire and chaos. It was dramatic, with narration of the story of the war.
Then we toured the rest of the museum
She knows how to pick 'em, eh?
This has been a long post. I hope you enjoyed it.
Until next time
Love to all
