Today is October 6th
We are still in Delta, PA but we will be going out to explore.
How ambitious these people are. In my younger years getting up at the crack of dawn to go out and work the fields might have been okay.  But in my time of life now it just makes me tired.
Then we went to McCalls Ferry Rd and found Lock 12, part of the barge system, you know, Erie Canal.  How cool is that.  Of course it is dry now.

Look how deep the canals were.

Just down the road a little way was creeks, old foundations for what we can only guess might be a house or office building for the canal works.

And a stair to "somewhere"

This is Marty's hand.  She's always picking up bugs and such.  OMG, not me.
She said if you see black caterpillars crossing the road the winter will be harsh.  Hum!

We then headed toward Holtwood Dam.

This is the Susquehanna River from the bridge that crossed it.  The walls were too high to get a good picture.  Not much water there, it's all back by the dam.  Every time we went over this bridge I was struck by the beauty of the land scape on the other side of this wall.

The leaves were beginning to turn.

An Amish school with children playing outside during lunch recess.

I think I have shown you corn cribs, where they store the picked corn in round wire building.  Well, here is a rectangular one sitting next to this barn.  No corn yet.

We went into Bird in Hand and on to Intercourse where we had lunch and walked around the shops for a bit.

Headed back to Delta by way of Lancaster 222 to 272, then Truce Rd. through the city of Buck and on to home.
When we get home to Delta we will have put on a total of 4336 miles.  What a trip.

Until next time

Love to all
