We are still in Rapid City, SD.  And it is still September 22.  Yesterday's post was just the beginning of Bear Country USA.

Not all bears are handsome.  This poor baby is a prime example!

I just wanted to see if you were paying attention.  She ain't bare but ain't she cute.

Yes, they even had kittens in a cage!!!

As we were leaving the park to go to Mount Rushmore Marty looked over and said, oh, look!  The little cubs that we watched playing were now up a tree.

So, it is getting late, rainy and dark and off to Mount Rushmore we fly.  My, my, my, it is not at all what I remember from the 70's.  Back then we just drove up to a building/gift shop/restaurant and went out onto the deck to see the faces.  Not you have to drive thru this little (?) town with shops galore to get up to the mountain.

Once there at the top they have 3 layers of parking, maybe even more.  It costs to park your car but that is the only way you are going to get to the "free" mountain exhibit.  It's those damn tourists again!!!  We did pay, but it was pretty dark, and walked up just to see what was happening.  You get a pass for tomorrow's parking.  This is what we saw that night.
A really long walk way to the amphitheater lined with columns with the states names and flags.
Of course, the shops, eateries and such.

Did you believe me when I said a loooong walk way?
This is the amphitheater

And it was raining a little.
And then it was raining harder!
And believe it or not, the faces are straight ahead of you in this picture.
So, as awe inspiring as it was we decided to leave and try for tomorrow.  It has been a busy, lovely grand day.

Until next time
Love to all
