I need to get my caboose in gear.  There are lots of days and lots of pictures to post.  I looked through them once again and there are some pretty cool ones.  I am so glad for Miss Marty's friendship and her taking me out 2 years ago to take pictures.  Who know where it would go.  So.......

Today is October 18th

We stayed home yesterday.  Today we are heading for Valley Forge.  We have traveled 5481 miles before we leave the driveway this afternoon.  We leave the house at 12:15 p.m.

But, of course, I had to take pictures of the kids in the back yard.  I am fascinated by the color of the birds.  My experience with wild birds are the resplendent robin so these little gems are wonderful.

And guess who is working his way into the glass jar 'cause there are peanuts in there, don't ya know.

Someone else discovered the peanuts in the jar.

 Young cardinal?

A few observations along the way.

 King of Prussia?  Really???

If I remember correctly we were not real sure about the location we were heading to.  We go through Atglen, Sadsburyville and Tedyffrin Township.  Did I tell you I loved the names of the towns.  Much more exciting that Pasco :)
We headed down Yellow Spring Road 'cause we didn't know where to go for sure and we came across this covered bridge.  The road was closed for repairs but did we let that stop us?  NOT!!
We did ask if we could stop and take pictures, the lady said okay.
(As a side note, we have been kicked out of a couple of spots further down the road.  HUMP!!!!  Stay tuned to see who would have the audacity to do that to us.)

We headed back out the way we came in and found our way to Valley Forge.

This is the outside of Geo. Washington's home and office.  It is a little humbling to know that you are walking in the same steps as Mr. Washington.  The displays in the house are close replicas since no one is alive that can tell them how the furniture was arranged.  But you can't deny that they walked many times on the floor.

Stairs from the main house to the kitchen which is "detached".
Kitchen to the left, house to the right up the stairs and door to the back outside.

 Enlisted men's barracks
 Leaves are turning
 Look, they have squirrels also.

 Inside the barracks.  No frills.

 Door hinges.

And back towards home. We decided to eat at Shady Maple before we go home.  It was a different route than the way we came, if we had only known we would have back tracked.  So we put it in the Garmin and he took us to the Penn. Pike freeway.  We got "stuck" in the "you gotta pay line or you can't go any farther".  It cost $35.00 to go half a mile before we turned off of the freeway to get to Shady Maple.  Pennsylvania owes us a refund, shame on you.
Dinner was lovely.  Did I tell you for those who don't know, Shady Maple is a smorgasbord with oodles of food.

Until next time

Love to all
