Today is October 8th
We are still in Delta, PA. Today we went to an indoor yard sale where Marty saw people she hadn't seen in awhile. I saw someone I knew, well, I had just meet him a couple of days ago. We stopped in his drive way to take pictures of an Amish farmer across the road and he came out to greet us. His name was Jim, right Marty? Anyway, he says that "they" tell him he is a descendent of Abraham Lincoln. Well, I could actually see Lincoln in his face so I think they were right. Now I find that exciting, to actually be talking to someone who is related and looks like Abraham Lincoln.
After we were through there we headed to Muddy Creek Forks. We passed a special road on the way. It was called Fake Road. Look in the picture. It runs from the sign to the bottom of the little hill there.
Farther down the road we came to Guinston Presbyterian Church. It was built in 1776
Blurry, sorry

And of course, being a church it has it's graveyard. That however was put into place in 1754. Now we are not allowed to take pictures of things that have "passed" other wise I would show you pictures of all the crosses we saw on all of the highways we went down but it creeps Marty out, sssooo. My point here is that I am going to show you some headstones in this grave yard, because they are unique in someway, to me any how.
This one has an extra layer of what I would guess would be slate on top of it. One can only guess. My reasoning is silly and disrespectful so I won't bother to tell you what I think.
It was the practice of the times to place upon a stone the actual timeline of your life. Mary was 78 years, 8 months and 20 days.
On the ground in front of some of the stones were these plaques. This gentleman was a veteran of the Revolutionary War.
This gentleman was a veteran between 1812 and 1814
This gentleman was in the GAR from 1861-1865
This is an infant child, 5 mos. old. Mother and Father on the bottom stone.
These were around the church and just because
Our next stop was
They were closed so we had to look through the window.
Did you know he had blue eyes?
Look at the hardware on the doors, how cool is that.
And of course it takes an executive decision to determine the days we would be open!!
This equipment was underneath the porch to the right of the grey stairs in the front of the building
Leaving the railroad station we found these.
This would be an empty corn crib.
Then on to this house. Marty had been here before and talked to the gentleman that owns it. It is on his property and it was the house that he grew up in. Apparently there was a whole passel of children brought up here. The gentleman's son wanted to tear down this treasure but the man said no.
This is the root cellar that belonged to the house.
Rushing water, you guess is as good as mine.😊
Until next time
Love to all
Wonderful Photo's and I loved the quotes with them.
